Ready for Black Friday 2010?
Its a week to the biggest shopping season in US.The Black Friday Sale has been in vogue ever since 1966. And for Most Americans, This marks the beginning of the shopping season, which extends till Christmas.Thanksgiving and shopping go hand in hand and everyone wait for their best discounts on Black Friday.
And all the big box retailers run extravagant sales programs on Black Friday. Nearly 130 million participated in the thanksgiving holiday rush 2 years back in US.
What is interesting to note is that there has been a constant significant rise in the number of online shoppers during the weekend. And it is even more interesting to note that WalMart leads the pack.
Walmart.com recorded the maximum no of visits on Black Friday- almost 15% of the entire traffic on online retailers.
Amazon closely followed WalMart with 12.5%
The popular joke is that – The turkey is the animal name most often associated with Thanksgiving, but for retailers, but now it is the mouse.
Be it brick or click and mortar, there are a few retailers to watch out this Thanksgiving Black Friday 2010. We have listed them below.

> TJ Maxx: apart from the usual rebates they generally offer an 8-10 am Sale, which is to offset the early morning Black Friday crowd (www.tjmaxx.com)
> Amazon.com – is one of the front runners in the online sale brigade, and interestingly is one of the few 100%online retailer in the list of online retailers with a lot of Thanksgiving crowd
> Wal-Mart – the giant, for consumer electronics-cost-wise, it is still the King!
> Gap – Gap has resurfaced after a few years of slump. Both online and offline, they have wonderful deals for TG. www.gap.com (also check www.oldnavy.com)
> Best Buy- Great deals for Laptop and cameras, early morning sale. (www.bestbuy.com)
> Barneys – High end, and doesn’t advertise much for a TG sale, but they usually have discounts up to 40% – www.barneys.com
> Sears (www.sears.com) – SEARS STORES will open on Thanksgiving Day November 25, for the first time in its 124-year history. Sears stores will be open from 7 am. to noon and deals will be similar to those offered on Black Friday.
